The Pupils of Leitrim National School have been engaged in a creative project with song writer Niall Teague. This coming together of creative forces has produced some brand new songs which will be released in the form of a cd and downloadable tracks. ‘Leitrim’s In My Heart’ is a folk ballad inspired by the beauty of the Leitrim area and its surroundings. It features singers from 4th, 5th and 6th class and the talented school Céilí Band. The track ‘Eunice The Enchanted Unicorn’ was based on a short story written and published by 2nd and 3rd class. The final track on the mini–EP is performed by Rev. Fr Iomar Daniels P.P. adding to what is very much a community initiative and effort. There are also amazing contributions from Sharon Shannon on Accordion and Galway County based drummer Adam Downey. The Project was recorded by Paddy Jordan and will be released on Monday December 4th. Cd’s are available from the School and Leitrim Parish Church as well as via Bandcamp. A donation from the proceeds will be given to Crumlin Hospital.
